Keep the current truck. Squirrel away money in a new truck account over the next 6 years. When you retire buy the best truck you can for the activity you want to do. Or not.
This is not a bad plan if you are a saver. If you don't have the fortitude to save. Than go to your plan and trade your truck.
Ultimately your goal should be to have your truck paid for before retirement. You don't want payments in retirement.
Buy/save now while you are working and have maximum income vs. retirement income.

'm not saying the GVW numbers are the most critical parameters known to man.
But only RV.net engineers would go as far as to claim they are fabricated.
As always, the RV.net mantra is "If the parameters don't work for you or comply to your scenario criticize and ignore them as if they never existed."

How much did you have to dish out for the 2022?
Since 2010 my cost of depreciation, repairs and maintenance has been less than zero.
A while back I think you convinced me your buying new regularly was not as crazy as I thought.
Nevertheless your cost since 2010 has not been zero.
How much have you spent buying your trucks since 2010? Have you simply recirculated the same $50K over that time?
I have to agree that since buying a new truck in 2019 my repair cost have been much lower than when I purchased used late model trucks.
That said, I will hold onto this 2019 until its worn out!

All the comparisons are the 7.3 gasser vs. anything but a modern diesel with an exhaust brake.
Compare a 7.3 gasser to the same year diesel that is the relevant equation.
All the other comparisons are antiquated.
Yea I know you walked to school in 3 feet of snow in your day.
…and you don't need four wheel drive. 2 wheel drive and sand bags got you through the blizzard.

Of all the reasons I select a tow engine, exhaust brakes aren't even on the list.
In the flat lands of Texas that is a reasonable thought.
If I were in Texas I may not be an exhaust brake fan either.
However the entire country is not flat. There are places where an exhaust brake is a must have and places where it is nice to have.
Fortunately we all have options and choices.

It's kind of a mute point. The exhaust brake has become a standard feature on HD diesels. A feature that works well and is a real difference maker.
A feature that HD gassers simply don't have. There is no comparison to be made.
We don't need to get into load, displacement or any other factor.
The gasser does not have an exhaust brake. Ultimately no exhaust break is a deal breaker and a major shortcoming of a gas engine

I would assume rig was not quite level as a result the slideout was somewhat racked and would not extend fully. Once the rig is leveled properly the issue goes away.
The takeaway is avoid the really unlevel spots when possible. Pull up on boards to get closer to level or do whatever you can if you encounter a really unlevel site. Know that the slideout will not extend properly on a really unlevel site.
Not quite the same but I don't like it when the auto level function raises my 5'ers wheels off the ground. I do what I can to avoid the wheel raising scenario
when I recognize a site is way out of level

I have flipped from used buying to new. I drive 30K a year . My truck is my daily driver and my 5th wheel hauler.
I keep my truck a longtime and drive them till they are worn out.
My last truck had 300K on it when I sold it.
It really depends on your needs and use. There is no one size fits all approach to buying.

I can tell you from experience. Those “all vehicle coolants” will contaminate the system. Requiring it to be flushed.
Just buy the proper coolant and be done!
I'm with Dodge Guy on this simply because he is a tech and see lots of cars everyday. He has experienced a large sample of cars not just the ones in his driveway.

the Allison on our 2001 3500dually with the 8.1 liter did a great job of holding speed towing down mountains with our 35 ft alpenlite that was a combined weight of 22900 lbs. but engines and trailers need to be matched for best results. The 05 Duramax and the 2001 8.1 worked the same going down the cabbage patch on 84. retired rv'r chevman
The 2005 Duramax did not have a factory exhaust brake.
Compare that 05 Duramax or that 8.1 to a a modern diesel with a OEM exhaust brake and you will find there is a significant difference in slowing power going down the grade.

Who's worried about a typical steepest it can be 6% interstate grade?!?!? Not me. Be it a gaz or deezal!
There are some 15% grades in the NE corner of Yellowstone....that can be interesting.
Otherwise, I haven't had but one rig that would not hold me on a downhill. That was my 88 SW K3500 where the POS th400 lost the ability to shift to 2nd gear. So you went 60-70 mph down typical 4-6% interstate grades, or 25-30 no brakes in 1st. It would hold 15k lbs in 2nd before loosing that gear. My 89 R3500 did that too.
For what it's worth, my 14 4.3 V6 is every bit as good or better pulling my equipment trailer at 6500 as those to supposed mountain climbing 454's were.
As Grit points out, as long as your on a typical freeway grade, the new rigs be them gaz or deezal, will be fine.

It's always the same issue on a clear sunny day in light traffic everything is always fine.
But on a rainy, windy, day in heavy traffic or whenever conditions are not ideal having the optimum equipment makes a difference.
Pretending a gaz engine descends the mountain as well as a diesel is
misleading.

Now a tidbit #1 rule from "me Again", go into retirement with paid off newer vehicles, RVs and other toys.
Agree. I'm retiring from career #1 at 45 years old. I'll still be working at least another 10-15 years though. I'm hoping my next truck might be my last truck,
But your really not retiring from the work force your just changing jobs. Granted you maybe getting a pension of some sort, but I imagine your income will increase not decrease. None of the going into retirement $$$ stuff really applies.

I think I like everything I'm hearing about the 7.3 and the 10 speed. However I would not compromise on the exhaust break.
Going up the mountain is more about speed and the time it takes to get to the top which is really not important. However coming down the mountain is more about safety and remaining in control.
You don't see runaway truck ramps going up the mountain, But they are present coming down! Maximum exhaust brake ability is a must. Ultimately lack of a true exhaust brake would be a deal breaker for me going with a gasser.

I think believing EV's are not viable it because of the lack of charging stations is silly.
At some point there were cars and no gas stations.
The wright bros. didn't give up on the airplane because there were no airports.
The infrastructure will come in time. To think there should be a charging station on every corner at this juncture is foolish.

If you have a single discharge point. You can put a twist on valve on the discharge. Close the discharge and open both grey and black tanks. Allow grey water flow into black tank. This trick will give you access to the additional capacity left in the black tank.

Easy to use, just follow the instructions.
My Norton Anti-Virus says it's a "Dangerous Website" and recommends against going to it. I think I tried it once before with the same results. Too bad the host of the website hasn't corrected whatever is causing the warning. I'm not going there.
Too bad your Norton anti virus is blocking the site.
Many including myself have no problem with the site.
May want to check your Norton settings or disable it when posting pictures.

Your concerned about depreciation because you are looking to sell the day you buy!
Now RV's are a bit different because they are all junk and it's hit or miss if you get a well built model or a clunker.
When it comes to vehicles I have learned to buy new, maintain it and drive it to the wheels fall off. When I get done the vehicle will be well worn with at least 300K on it. I used to by used but I learned what I save in purchase price I lost in premium life of the vehicle. Those first 5 years are generally repair free.
I could not say that when I bought used.
My RV is a 2012. I purchased new. Granted it's an RV so I have had my share of repairs. 90% of the I did myself.
I do not wish I had purchased used to save money. I have the exact RV I wanted. In the exact colors I chose. With the exact features I wanted and none of the features I didn't want. For me the RV experience is not about bang for the buck.
We all have budgets and finances. However every dollar I spend does not have to be done rationally. THere are smart things to do with my money and investments to be made and then there are fun things to do with my money.
Sometimes fun is the only return you get on your money and that's fine with me

Friends of ours bought a lightweight Arcadia Fifth Wheel. It came with a 12v fridge and one solar panel. They added a solar suitcase for additional solar. It also came with a tankless water heater. After one trip and wasting two gallons of water before thevwater heated up, he added this add on and they love it.
We are just about to start our first dry camping trip with this new camper. While there appear to be few fixes to the water wasting issue with the tankless water heater, if we do anything, I'm currently leaning towards pulling it out and putting a tank heater in its place.
The "Showermiser" tee looks like a worthwhile idea. However, I agree getting rid of the tankless altogether is a better idea.

With any water heater the water in the pipes heater to tap/shower is room temp.
And there is your quart. the Tankless has hot water coming out the outlet within half a cup.
Go home. Turn on the shower. How long before you get hot water out of your tank type water heater?
The only disadvantage to Tankless is you have a minimum flow rate before it heats.
There is definitely a delay with tankless. A tank heater has 130º water ready to go. A tankless does not. The cooler water in the pipes is a factor for both. Tankless does not produce hot water instantaneously. It takes a few moments for tankless to produce hot water. You will notice the lag or delay with tankless in a house or RV.
That said tankless is a very bad idea for an RV.
My 10 gallon tank water heater gives me unlimited hot water. I never run out.
Having unlimited hot water via tankless is a fallacy.
You don't have unlimited supply nor do you have unlimited waste water storage.
